Annual Concours Oral

Every year since the 1940s, the Federation of Alliances Françaises of New Zealand has organised the Concours Oral, or National High School Oral French Competition.

The competition is open to high school students of French from Year 9 to Year 13 and is supported by the NZAFT (New Zealand Association of French Teachers) and the French Embassy in New Zealand.

Each Alliance Française centre organises its own regional exams, usually in August, then selects its Year 12 and Year 13 winners to go forward to the national exam where they compete for the two trips to New Caledonia, generously provided by our sponsors AirCalin (the New Caledonian international airline), Education Perfect and MASCOP in Poindimié, New Caledonia.

Other prizes and certificates can also be awarded at the regional level, particularly for Year 9, 10 and 11 students for whom there is no national award. The national exam will take place on Saturday 10 September 2016 for all centres.
