Isabelle

Bonjour, I am Isabelle, a French native speaker from Alsace-Lorraine. I came to New Zealand 25 years ago with my 2 children and my Kiwi husband. From a very young age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher, and I’ve now been teaching for 28 years! I like to teach while having fun and I love the reward of seeing my students' progress with their French!

Maud

Salut, my name is Maud, and I come from Saint-Étienne. I now have two children, but before they arrived I travelled extensively in Europe, Australia, Thailand, settling in New Zealand in 2015.

When I’m not teaching French, I teach swimming, coach synchronised swimming, teach Aquafit, and work as a teachers’ aid in a local primary school! I love teaching, and am passionate about sharing my language and culture. I really enjoy meeting new people and helping develop their skills and confidence.

Salomé

Bonjour, my name is Salomé. I come from the French town of Le Mans (famous for its motor car race), and have been living in New Zealand for seven years with my French family of four. We initially only came for a year-long visit, but really enjoyed the Kiwi way of life so much that we decided to stay!

I am very passionate about teaching - I teach both my children French at home and have been actively involved in the local French playgroup "Les petits Lascars". I also had the opportunity to provide teaching cover for the homeroom teacher at "La petite Étoile", a French preschool in Auckland.

Alongside teaching, I love to learn, and am currently undertaking Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching at the University of Waikato, as well as working towards my French Government accredited 'teaching French as a second language' (DAEFLE- Diplôme d’aptitude à l’enseignement du Français Langue Étrangère) qualification.

I believe that teaching languages should never be limited to the proficiency in grammar and vocabulary - learning a foreign language is a key to understanding other cultures, and I look forward to sharing my own cultural heritage with my students and to bringing genuine francophone experience into the classroom!

A bientot, j'espere.

Steve

Bonjour à tous!

My name is Steve Garratt and I come from New Zealand. I am passionate about foreign languages and did a degree in linguistics and several languages including French, German, Japanese and Maori. I did two of the French papers for my degree at the University of French Polynesia (Université de la Polynésie française) in Tahiti a cultural experience I thoroughly enjoyed.

I love language teaching as it is a joy to help others progress in their language journey as well as a chance to meet people from all over the world. I have five years’ experience teaching second language learners in both China and NZ.

Steve
