Operation Tarte Tatin !

Calling all Alliance Members - Aprons on, Set, Bake!

Put your baking skills to the test as we search for the best Tarte Tatin in Hamilton and in New Zealand: the famous French upside-down apple tart.

Simply bring your creation to Trust Waikato on the 24th April before 2:15pm (important) to enter the competition. Judging will take place at 3pm but join us at 2pm for some French themed activities and delicacies.

The winner of the competition will receive:

• A trip to Wellington for one person (the winner) on 21 May 2021.
• Breakfast at the French Residence.
• Hands-on cooking class at Cordon Bleu New Zealand: preparation of a traditional French dish with Chef Francis Motta.
• Followed by a two-course lunch : the dish prepared during the class matched with a French wine and a dessert.

Please Note
The competition is open to those aged 18 and over, who are not a professional baker, and who are Alliance members (It's not too late to become a member!); and the prize, as described, is provided to the winner only. The date cannot be changed (but dependent on COVID-19 alert levels) neither can the content of the prize be transferred to another person or exchanged for cash. It includes the transport to/from Wellington (arrival on 20 May, return on 21 May) and a one-night accommodation (20 May). A shuttle service will operate transfers to the French Residence and Cordon Bleu New Zealand. Individual airport/railway station transfers aren’t covered.

To enter and participate in the competition in Hamilton, register on our website by 23 April 2021 and bring your chef d'oeuvre before 2:15pm on the 24th.

This is a free event and we hope everyone will have a taste of this famous tarte if we have enough competitors who participate. Please register on our web site if you are coming even you are not participating in the competition. This will help us in the organisation of the event. Some hot drinks will be available. You can also BYO drink if you want (we won't sell any).
